Flower Inspiration - Right at Home Magazine

If you need inspiration for arranging flowers at home and can't make it along to one of our classes at our Flower School, we write a weekly column in the Sunday Mail's Right at Home magazine. Focusing on what's in season, every week we give practical tips as well as a step by step arrangement to try yourself. Buy your copy at your local newsagent or read the online version.

Cheese cake

A few weeks ago as we were setting up a wedding at Hotel du Vin we bumped into Felicity Waterman from Venues to Menues who creates a fabulous alternative to the traditional wedding cake - a cake made entirely from cheese. She even let us decorate it with flowers!

For all you foodies reading, the cheeses used were a base of Montgomery Cheddar, then the Cornish Yarg (wrapped in nettles, the pictures don't do it justice), then on the top was a Cashel Blue. Around the base were Dorstone (ash rolled goats cheese) and then four Coeur de Neufchatel at the corners.

Faking It on STV's The Hour

Last week, Nick headed down to the STV studios for another appearance on The Hour. This time he joined Michelle McManus and Grant Stott to talk about artificial flowers - not something we specialise in at Mood Flowers - but still popular with lots of viewers!

Flower School

The timetable for the third year of our Flower School has just been released. Classes from November 2010 through to May 2011 are now available to book and are designed to suit all levels from absolute beginners through to enthusiastic amateurs. This year we have added our Signature Style Masterclass, Dining Table Centrepieces and Luxury Hand Tied Bouquet classes to the timetable. With only 14 places available on each class, book soon to avoid disappointment.

For the full timetable see the Flower School section of our website. Here's a selection of photos from previous classes.

Vivienne in the news!

Last weekend Vivienne was featured in the Lifelines page of The Herald Magazine. The article described how Vivienne found her passion for flowers over seven years ago after a varied career in the corporate world. Log onto The Herald's website to read the article in full.

Wedding at Blythswood Square

The Monte Carlo Suite at the Blythswood Square Hotel is the perfect setting for a contemporary wedding. A combination of green and white hydrangea and roses combined to create elegant displays in the sumptuous dining space.

Homes & Interiors 2010

Another busy Homes and Interiors Scotland show took place at the SECC at the end of August. We love the show as it gives us a chance to meet old and new customers and show our creative work. The team worked so hard all weekend but we think it was worth it.

Over the 3 day show, Nick and Laura's demonstration in the Design Theatre played to a full house every day.

Busy but happy days at Mood Flowers

Its been such a busy few weeks for the team at Mood Flowers with so many events, weddings and shows. We've recently created the flowers for 2 very exclusive events. The first was an incredible birthday party where Glasgow literally became Hawaii for the evening. Here's a sneak look at some of the photos.

The other event was top top secret and involved us designing a Christmas room set including a fully decked 10 foot tree (in September!) and fireplace. The company involved flew in some Hollywood A List stars. Watch out for the photos in a global magazine publication towards the end of the year. Shhhhhhhhhhhh!
