Happy Hogmanay

Wishing all of you a very Happy Hogmanay. Mood Flowers will be with you at the bells. Look out for our stunning displays of white amaryllis on STV's Hogmanay show "Midnight" with Stephen Jardine and Michell McManus. The show starts at 11:30pm this evening.

End of 2010

We've come to the end of another busy year. The last few weeks have been hectic with all our Christmas weddings, Flower School classes and hand tied gift bouquets. Nick even found some time to pop back into STV's the Hour on the 13th December and showed Stephen and Michelle how to make floral place cardholders - perfect for Christmas but great for the rest of the year too.

We'd like to thank all our customers and look forward to working with you all again in 2011. We have so much in store with lots of new developments at Mood Flowers.

Christmas Fayre at Hotel du Vin

On Sunday after Nick and Laura delivered wedding flowers to Cameron House and House for an Art Lover, they joined a host of other suppliers at a fabulous Christmas Fayre at Hotel du Vin at One Devonshire Gardens. It seemed that half of the people in the West End realised this was the place to be and it was great to catch up with old and new customers alike. Don't you love a lazy Sunday!

Modern Apprenticeship Awards

Last week we were delighted to design the table flowers for the Modern Apprenticeship Awards at the Radisson Blue hotel in Glasgow. They opted for posy style arrangements in lilacs, mauves and purples.

Christmas on STV's The Hour

Last week, Nick once again headed down to the STV studios to join Michelle and Stephen on STV's The Hour. He gave viewers his top tips on decorating a Christmas tree as well as demonstrating how to create the perfect door wreath. If you want to find out more about Christmas decorating then join Nick at one of our Flower School classes in our Design Studio next week.

Crazy busy week

It's the end of another week at Mood Flowers and we're all exhausted. You know when you arrive at a hotel and all the Christmas trees, stair garlands and pillar decorations have magically arrived overnight - well it's hard working florists like us that make it happen. We've decorated around 45 Christmas trees this week including a 15ft one in the lobby at Radisson Blu.

After all that, this weekend we created flowers for weddings at Cameron House, Hotel du Vin at One Devonshire Gardens and House for an Art Lover. Here's a few photos from the preparations and delivery of the Cameron House wedding. Note the bottles of lucozade on the work benches - we're thinking about buying shares in the company!

Run V.T.

It's an incredibly busy week for us with over 40 Christmas trees to decorate in hotels and homes throughout the West of Scotland as well as our regular floral work and five weddings this weekend! After a 6:00am start, Nick still found some time this morning for 4 hours of filming for STV's The Hour. On location at the luxurious Hotel du Vin at One Devonshire Gardens, Nick made a short film giving his top tips on decorating the perfect Christmas tree. The feature is scheduled to run on Monday 6th December at 5pm on STV.

Christmas Flower School

The snow only prevented one of our budding florists from attending our first Christmas Flower School today. It was a great class with everyone making a door wreath, table centre and mantlepiece arrangement along with a few little extras including flower tree decorations and place card holders.

There are three more classes just before Christmas on the 22nd and 23rd December. Check out the Flower School section of our website for more details.

3 weddings, 3 vans and 3 inches of snow (well, almost)!

Yesterday like the rest of the country we woke up to quite a few inches of snow. With three weddings to deliver and set up, we had all the vans packed by 11am and headed out in different directions.

Laura headed off with Brian in Mood2 ("the wee van") to House for an Art Lover on Glasgow's southside, Lucy travelled the short drive to Hotel du Vin at One Devonshire Gardens in Mood3 ("the other wee van") and Nick, Abbie and Emma drove in Mood1 ("the big van") to set up the wedding at Cameron House...

Scottish Themed Flowers

Often we are asked to create Scottish themed arrangements for events and weddings. Yesterday's table centres at Cameron House shows that these can still be contemporary. We combined vibrant purple liatris with thistles and foliage, not forgetting a touch of Lindsay tartan.

September Wedding

Last weekend, one of our bride's delivered her beautiful wedding photos from her Glasgow West End wedding back in September this year. A combination of avalanche roses, phalaenopis orchids, calla lilies and anthurium were used througout the wedding flowers to create a sumptuous feel in both the church and hotel. We wish Gillian and David a fantastic life together....

Back To School

Last weekend was the beginning of the 2010/11 Flower School Timetable. We kicked off on Saturday with the Luxury Hand Tied Bouquet class and the Introduction to Flowers class then completed the weekend with our first ever Signature Style Masterclass. Everyone seemed to have a great time and we definitely found some great florists among the participants.

Over the weekend we worked with a huge array of beautiful flowers including sweet avalanche and grand prix roses, cymbidium and phalaenopsis orchids, and parrot tulips. If you'd like to join us at The Flower School then the next four classes are all about Christmas flowers for the home. We still have a few spaces available on each class.

Vintage Style Wedding

We just received these beautiful photos through from the amazing Craig & Eva Sanders Photography. They have captured the timeless elegance of Jenny and Stephen's wedding at Cameron House perfectly. This August wedding is the perfect tonic for a cold November day.....

Deck The Halls....

We had a great evening at Jo Malone last night demonstrating our Christmas wreaths in two private Master Classes. Nick and Rachel worked alongside the team at Jo Malone to create three beautiful wreaths to complement the Pine & Eucalyptus, Red Roses and English Pear & Freesia fragrances.
