CBS comes to town!

Glasgow has been a mecca for international movie stars this year and we love to get involved providing flowers for their hotel suites and dressing rooms. Last week the CBS show The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson was in town and we were asked to provide flowers for the dressings rooms of Mila Kunis, Ariel Tweto and Michael Clarke Duncan. The vases were a combination of thistle, stock, trachelium as well as James Storey and Vanda orchids - a little bit of Scotland with a Hollywood twist.

The Hour comes to the Mood Flowers Studio

On Monday our studio was turned into a TV studio for a few hours as Nick filmed his latest piece of VT for STV's The Hour, showing online viewers how he creates the flowers for the set every week. Combining rich tones of reds and pinks, using Grand Prix roses, Amalia roses and Protea Waratha, he created a large vase arrangement giving lots of tips along the way. STV Appeal

On Friday evening Nick headed down to the STV studios to hand over a cheque for over £2,000 which he raised with the other resident experts on 'The Hour", Karon Grieve, Doctor Debbie, Bruce Devlin and Stella Bartram. They spent a great evening at STV HQ with Lorraine Kelly where over £1.2 million was raised on the night.

Nick and The STV Appeal

Nick will be running in the Great Scottish Run 10K as part of the STV Appeal Team to raise money for Scotland’s most-at-risk children who deal with poverty on a daily basis.  All funds raised for the charity will make a huge difference so no donation is too big or too small!

Last week, Nick headed back to to STV studios to appear on the live show The Hour with Michelle McManus and Colin Kelly. The three of them made some flowers displays for parties using flowers and sweets, tucking into a few of the sweets on the way. Click on this link to watch the show.

Nick popped down to the STV studios on Wednesday to show The Hour's presenters, Michelle McManus and Sanjeev Kohli how to create the perfect Father's Day gift - a miniature golf course made from bun moss, flat moss and a heather plant.  Click on the link to watch the show.

STV's The Hour

A busy month for flowers on STV's The Hour. Nick was in the studio with Michelle and Stephen just before Mother's Day showing viewers how to perfect a simple gift arrangement. He'll be back on your screen tomorrow (Wednesday 20th April) talking about flowers for Easter and then on again next week (Wednesday 27th April) to talk about his prediction for the Royal wedding flowers.

Roses on STV's The Hour

In preparation for Valentine's Day, Nick joined Michelle McManus and Grant Stott on STV's The Hour to discuss the meanings of rose colours. Dating back to Victorian times, this is the perfect way to send a coded message to your loved one on the 14th February. Nick talked about red (deep passion), white (everlasting love), lilac (love at first sight) and yellow (friendship). Make sure you send the correct colour on Monday!

Happy Hogmanay

Wishing all of you a very Happy Hogmanay. Mood Flowers will be with you at the bells. Look out for our stunning displays of white amaryllis on STV's Hogmanay show "Midnight" with Stephen Jardine and Michell McManus. The show starts at 11:30pm this evening.

End of 2010

We've come to the end of another busy year. The last few weeks have been hectic with all our Christmas weddings, Flower School classes and hand tied gift bouquets. Nick even found some time to pop back into STV's the Hour on the 13th December and showed Stephen and Michelle how to make floral place cardholders - perfect for Christmas but great for the rest of the year too.




We'd like to thank all our customers and look forward to working with you all again in 2011. We have so much in store with lots of new developments at Mood Flowers.

Christmas on STV's The Hour

Last week, Nick once again headed down to the STV studios to join Michelle and Stephen on STV's The Hour. He gave viewers his top tips on decorating a Christmas tree as well as demonstrating how to create the perfect door wreath. It's an incredibly busy week for us with over 40 Christmas trees to decorate in hotels and homes throughout the West of Scotland as well as our regular floral work and five weddings this weekend! After a 6:00am start, Nick still found some time this morning for 4 hours of filming for STV's The Hour. On location at the luxurious Hotel du Vin at One Devonshire Gardens, Nick made a short film giving his top tips on decorating the perfect Christmas tree. The feature is scheduled to run on Monday 6th December at 5pm on STV.
